Many people have heard of the “miracle drug” called Fen-Phen. The name “Fen-Phen” is an abbreviation for the combination of two separate drugs. The “Fen” part of Fen-Phen stands for Fenfluramine and is more commonly known as Pondimin. The “Phen” of Fen-Phen stands for Phentermine and is more commonly known by its brand name Lonamin. Both of the drugs found in Fen-Phen alter the serotonin level of the brain.

In past years, growing evidence has suggested that Fenfluramine taken alone, or in combination with Phentermine may be responsible for primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH), heart valve problems and brain neurotoxicity.
